Halloween

This year, Halloween was a riot. Before last year, Colin was too young to understand, and Andrew wasn't really enthusiastic about going out in the cold and dark. But last year everything changed, Andrew and Colin both clued that there was major candy to be scooped, and they get to stay up late as well. This year they could hardly contain themselves.

Heidi worked her usual magic by making a bear costume for Andrew, and a skunk costume for Colin [kind of appropriate for someone still in diapers I think.] When I say magic, I mean that the end results looked great, there was a great deal of cussing coming from the sewing machine for most of October so I think it was more a case of dogged determination rather than magic.

Colin, never one to use tact when there is an opportunity to be blunt, walked up to the first house, banged on the door and demanded to know whether the residents "had any candy for us?" At one house he didn't stop to ask, he saw a bowl of goodies in the hall and marched in to get his stuff. Needless to say we had our hands full in teaching him the finer points of "Trick or Treating".

Andrew was in candy acquisition mode all night, but he had a hard time knowing what was going on much of the time. The bear mask which Heidi made looked great, but its design didn't allow for much peripheral vision. So we had to guide him around a great deal.

Here are our two animals getting ready to terrorize the neighbours.

I can harldly wait to see what next year has in store. They might be totally uncontrollable.
