Junior Friend

One of the great things about the Pinery is the way that they have developed programmes for children. Every morning there is a 2-3 hour nature programme which attracts kids as young as 2 [Colin loved it] and yet seems to appeal to much older children too [some look like they were about 10 or 11].

There is also a programme called "Junior Friends of the Pinery" which asks children to complete a variety of activities in order to get a certificate and other stuff. In order to qualify the kids must collect bottle caps or twist ties which are ubiquitious at every campsite. They must also rake the campsite. Whoever thought of this brainstorm is a genius. Instead of having Andrew pester us while we packed up to go home, we handing him a rake and we all did our bit to get ready to leave. He took it very seriously, and even had a lot of fun, as you can see above.
