We stayed with Bogie and Angela at their place on the slope of a mountain near Gümüşlük. That seems to be normal; they build houses on impossible slopes everywhere in Türkiye.
We were introduced to the Muğla lifestyle: Swimming in the Aegean Sea in the morning, then visiting charming local towns and having dinner on the beach. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

We spent a day cruising on a gulet and swimming in crystal clear bays on the Mediterranean coast, near Bodrum. Even in September, you gotta get there fast cause all the gulets head for the same “secluded” spots. It was a great day: hot but not too, the water warm but refreshing.
And yes, I noticed that my headgear is even more ridiculous than before.

To give our hosts a break, we planned to head East to the small coastal town of Kas. Bogie helped me rent a car from an independent shop in Gündoğan. Like so many things in Türkiye, this turned out to be an “off the books” deal. Cash only: so I had to go to the ATM to withdraw a wad of ₺6,000 and handed it to a guy on a motor scooter (who HVW said looked like a ganster). We picked up the car the next day, it wasn’t exactly in prime condition: Lots of dings on the body, somebody else’s garbage on the floor, check engine light is on, so is the tire pressure warning… Bogie tells me that, in Turkish, the guy says don’t worry, it will get to Kas, and back, no problem. Also comes with only 1/4 tank of gas.
Off we go…
