Hoboken businesses prepare for a George Floyd protest march tomorrow. Hopefully it will turn out to have been unnecessary.
It was a longer than usual commute yesterday.
Days in lockdown have a sameness to them. It's like groundhog day, all over again. I came across the critter in the pic above just across the street from the Hudson River, during one of my semi-regular sanity walks around town. Stay safe.
Thunderbirds and Blue Angels do a fly-over in honour of health care workers and first responders dueing the COVID-19 plague.
On Thursday, I took a walk to break up a day of WFH and discovered that the statue memorializing the Hamilton/Burr duel is on the riverfront in Weehawken, not on the heights like I thought.
Help is on the way, as the USNS Comfort arrives in NYC.
This is literally my daily commute now. Up the funky half-stairs half-ladder to my home office.
I know, I know.... two trips to Whistler in one year is so indulgent. So indulge me. Andrew and Isabella came in from the UK. I took a couple of lessons to refresh my skills (only took a pic on one day). Andrew and I had a great time in some pretty extreme weather, and [...]
Just back from a week at Whistler with Mssrs. Allt and Lloyd-Davies. Much fun was had, including the discovery of an ice cave on Blackcomb Glacier that has never been accessible on any of my previous trips.

It's true. Spotify has changed things. It is now much, much easier to find new music to listen to, but it seems that fewer tracks make a lasting impression. My annual lists keep getting shorter. Anyway, here are 3 albums that I liked in 2019. They are all kinda electronic ambient - type stuff, so..... [...]
It was deserted at the Hoboken terminal on the morning of New Year's Eve..
Mild ice accumulation on the rooftop garden at Pru Tower in Newark
First storm of winter 2019/20 spritzes Newark with a bit of snow.
It was one year ago that we lost Bronte. She loved shoveling the snow.
Apparently, we picked the worst time to visit the Vatican, so had to jostle through the galleries and the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's basilica with literally thousands of others. So it goes. I took one picture of a roped off area that seemed quite pleasant. HVW says I should have photographed the crowds. Next [...]
Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene... William Shakespeare , "Romeo & Juliette" OK so the setting is Roma, not Verona, where we've been for a little more than a day. Andrew has come and gone. But yesterday we saw Isabella and met the Noble household. [...]
Today's adventure was navigating the very steep and very narrow, winding roads in and out of Villa Bordoni, which (for some reason) were much busier today. The highlight was coming grill-to-grill with a large truck in a section of road with low stone walls on each side. The truck driver decided that I needed to [...]
