Heidi and I took my new Miata downtown to see Mavis Staples. Quite an event, but I think I’m just too white, to really get full value from her vibe. Groovin’ in the aisles just isn’t my thing.
The backing band was a real curiousity, though. Found out later it was Rick Holstrom on guitar. Looked more like an accountant, than a smokin’ bluesman, but if it’s good enough for Mavis, it’s good enough for me.
