Shrine of the Holy Wisdom of God

I have a packed itinerary for the next couple of days in Istanbul, but today was just to reset my bio-clock after the overnight flight from Toronto.  So I did the tourist thing:

  • Taksim Sq.:  Check
  • Yerebatan Sarnıcı / Basilica Cistern:  Check
  • Aya Sofya: Check
  • Blue Mosque: Check
  • Spice Market/Turkish coffee and Turkish Delight: Check
  • Sülimaniye Mosque: Check
  • Turkish rug sales pitch: Check
  • SALT Galata: Check
  • Dinner looking over the Bosphorus: Check

All in all, a good day I’d say.

Istanbul is one place I really would have loved to visit. That is one historic part of the world.
Lawrence of Arabia is one of my favourite movies but I don’t think he got on too well with the Turks.
Have a great time and go easy on the local sweet! Bill B.

  2. Yep, good day indeed. –Curt
