Last blast of winter

After Victoria, we went to Whistler, where I bagged 3 days of spring skiing.  I don’t have a single photo to show for it; decided to experiment with Andrew’s Go Pro camera and it didn’t work out so well.  Here’s the only video that is worth a look (don’t worry, its not even 30 seconds long).

Out of the 3 days on the mountain, I spent 2 with the Extremely Canadian Steep Clinic (for the 4th time).  The spring conditions created many challenges, including thick fog, frozen crud, and “creme brulé” crusts, but Claire Hughes, Steve Clarke, and Wendy Brookbank did a terrific job of finding the great runs.   Highlights from this year included: Diamond and Sapphire Bowls off Spanky’s Ladder on Blackcomb, and the Cirque and West Cirque on Whistler mountain.

I’m listing these not to boast, but just so that I will remember them for next year.   I chickened out of the Couloir on Whistler because of the 10 foot vertical drop at the entrance.   However, I think that I made it through last year, when the drop was covered with March powder  and much less intimidating.  But I don’t know for sure.
